This computer is running super slow, what can I do to run faster and more efficient?

I always use this equipment, is a computer in my classroom at the school I work. It is running much slower than any computer at school, (and they all run on the same system, Windows XP I think) so my question is what site I can go to get a free virus removal, check, or something to remove spyware.
